For the first time for all patients, who have heart problems and must undergo a surgical intervention, the American Hospital brings an innovation in the field of heart surgery through local anesthesia.
Partial anesthesia in cardiovascular interventions is applied for the first time, offering patients a number of benefits. The cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Arben Kojqiqi informs that this is a new form of surgery, which brings a new service for patients, enabling faster release from the hospital. “The newest and latest interventions are changes of valves and bypasses. Patients are awake, without intubation and with epidural anesthesia” stresses Dr. Kojqiqi.
Meanwhile the Head of Anesthesia in the American Hospital, Dr. Gentian Huti says that this novelty has been applied successfully in 7 cases with surgery intervention in heart and all the patients in 7 days have left the hospital in a very good health condition. According to Dr. Huti, the routine anesthesia for such kinds of operations is the general anesthesia in several patients with special problems, mainly pulmonary ones. There exists the other method of local anesthesia (epidural), where the patient is away during the entire time. The greatest benefit in these cases is the activation of the post-operation patients, who is many times faster in comparison to the general anesthesia.
Through partial anesthesia, the patient can follow the entire process of painless intervention. Partial anesthesia is the latest innovation coming to Albania and the Balkans, for the first time by the American Hospital, once again guaranteeing the quality service and the best chance for curing all the diseases.
