We have the Cone Beam CT scan. This is the patient with their normal bite. We can see that the airway is reduced to 38.2 mm². On the other hand, here is the same patient with a mandibular advancement device in place. We can see how there is an increased vertical dimension between the teeth, and the jaw is positioned further forward. As a result, the airway has nearly tripled in size, from 38 to 124.1 mm². This is a video of another patient, simulated between the initial CT scan and the follow-up, comparing both airways. This is the ‘before’ and ‘after’.”

    </details>

At American Dental Hospital, we believe dentistry is about more than just aesthetics—it’s about your overall health. One of the most critical, yet often overlooked, areas where dental expertise makes a difference is in the treatment of Sleep Apnea.

A Glimpse into the Science of Breathing

In our latest video, Dr. Edlir Dume, a Sleep Apnea Expert, showcases a real-world case treated using advanced diagnostic technology. Using a Cone Beam CT (CBCT) scan, we can visualize the airway in three dimensions.

In the “Before” stage, the patient’s airway was severely restricted, measuring only 38.2 mm². This narrow passage is often the culprit behind snoring, fatigue, and serious long-term health risks associated with oxygen deprivation during sleep.

The Power of Mandibular Advancement

The solution showcased involves a specialized Mandibular Advancement Device. By subtly adjusting the vertical dimension between the teeth and moving the lower jaw forward, we can physically open the airway.

The results are remarkable:

Airway Expansion: The passage grew from 38.2 mm² to 124.1 mm².

Breathability: Nearly a 3x increase in airway space.

Quality of Life: Improved oxygen flow leads to deeper sleep and more energetic days.

Advanced Imaging at American Dental Hospital

We use the same high-standard simulations seen in the video to compare “Before” and “After” results for our patients. This allows us to ensure that every appliance we create is precisely calibrated to provide maximum respiratory relief.

“Dentistry allows us to change the way a person breathes. By repositioning the jaw, we aren’t just fixing a bite; we are opening a path to better health.” — Dr. Edlir Dume

Are you struggling with snoring or waking up feeling tired? Contact American Dental Hospital today to schedule a consultation and see how our Sleep Apnea treatments can help you breathe easier and sleep better.

View Video Transcript (English) [Click to Expand] “Here we have a concrete case of a patient we treated in America.
